1   Christy, The TV Series / Re: Correct order of the series episodes  on: Sep 22nd, 2016, 5:37pm

I would like to buy DVDs of the whole Christy series. It seems like there are conflicting offerings available on amazon.
I watched 'Christy, the entire series' and it left me hanging at Thanksgiving time.
By looking around I see the are other dvds called A New beginning and Choices of the heart and Christy:return to cutter gap.
What comes after the initial set of discs? And then what is the third and fourth sets?

Hello and Welcome!

Catherine Marshall was the wife of Peter Marshall, Sr., one time chaplain of the Senate. She wrote "A Man Called Peter" about her husband, as well as "Christy". "Christy" was loosely based on her mother's experiences teaching in the Tennessee mountains at the turn of the century. It was dramatized for effect and the presence of the doctor and the deathbed experience were part of the dramatization.

Glad to see a new face!

The story my Aunt of 80 years old told me....Former Chaplin for the US Senate, Peter Marshall, had a wife. Ann Marshall, his wife, wrote a book called "A Man Called Peter." They had a daughter named Catherine Marshall who wrote "Christy" which is about her mother, Ann Marshall, who went to the Appalachians to teach. A doctor fell madly in love with her (the book is based on fact and fiction so some claim there was love while others say not, but she never left her husband Peter Marshall). Christy got sick and died. The doctor was by her on her death bed. As he was sobbing, she came back to life. So the book is about her mother who went to teach and also about her coming back to life experience.

I am new to this and have honestly not read any of this forum, but I saw this question and wanted to throw in my Aunt's version of the story. I once had the book, but it was lost in a flood. Now, my niece wants just graduated college and rather than get into Sports Broadcasting with ESPN which she is a "shoe-in" to have a job due to the ties in the family, she has chosen to go to Appalachia and help those in need. She got a scholarship to a university in North Carolina and will be graduating this summer. She was born and raised by her parents in Georgia although the rest of her family is from Tennessee.

5   Christy, The TV Series / What Episodes/Scenes Do You Wish You Could've Seen  on: Jan 23rd, 2016, 11:26pm

I wish there could have been a Christmas episode. Neil could have given her some beautiful handmade gift. (or even better, she gets snowed in at his cabin--haha)

I also would have loved a special where she returns to Ashville for a short time--like the Dr. Quinn episode where Dr. Quinn goes to Boston because she mother falls ill, then she starts to fall for someone there, but Sully comes to bring her back home.
Can't you just imagine Neil all dressed up in a suit taking Christy to fancy dinners and then the opera? Then he convinces her heart is back in the mountains and she returns. :heartbeat:

I also would have liked to see Neil take Christy on a surprise picnic.

What episodes/scenes would you have liked to see?

I'm not sure what you mean by a visual project, but maybe a mock up 3-d type of map?

I'm new here
I really love Christy, both the book and the TV series. So much so that, i'm reading the book for third time, I've watched the TV series twice, and I've used the names from the book to name all of the baby goats born on my farm this year!
I'm in the 9th Grade, and for history class i have an assignment for the end of the year to read a historical fiction book and write a book report on it, as well as a historical report of the time period, and a visual on the book. So, one can guess what book I choose.
Anyway I decided after a short time of being a "ghost" on the forum, just reading it and stuff, I would make an account. The books studies ya'll have sticky'ed are super helpful, by the way! Anyways, my main point i wanted ask you guys was, what would be a good idea for a visual for this project? Any ideas or thought to add that could aid me in this project since i know you all are such experts? I so love the book, however i'm really not good with writing and literature or putting my thoughts together in this way. I'm more of a science/math student. Also, i apologize for any grammar/spelling mistakes! Oh, and by the way, I'm home-schooled through an online school, and Christy is kind of a big deal among many homeschoolers.
